Jim Carpenter serves as Vice Chair within Cushman & Wakefield’s institutional industrial investment sales practice. Throughout his 35+ years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, Jim has established himself as a prominent leader and expert in the field, successfully completing transactions encompassing over 400 million square feet of property with total consideration exceeding $30 billion. His market insight and demonstrated track record have earned him the trust of clients worldwide.

From 2012-2025, Jim led the National Industrial Advisory Group, our U.S. industrial capital markets platform. Under his leadership, IAG grew from 23 to 98 professionals, completed over $60 billion in transactions and increased annual transaction volume over 18x.  His dedication and leadership built IAG into a trusted advisor to institutional industrial investors.

Currently, Jim leads regional transaction teams in Dallas, Chicago and Mexico.  These teams cover 19 markets with annual transaction volume in excess of $3 billion. His innate leadership skills and industry knowledge drive creative solutions, outstanding results and exceptional service to clients. 

A member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) for over 20 years, Jim actively contributes to council leadership, including his tenure as Chair of the IOPC Green Council from 2015 to 2018, showcasing his commitment to industry leadership and insight.
