Hirundo, a Portuguese eco-friendly sneaker brand, opened its third store in Lisbon (the fourth in Portugal) on May 5. Located at Rua da Boavista nº166, the new store has an area of 120 sqm. Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) supported the transaction, which involved a leasehold assignment.
Hirundo was founded in 2022 in Porto by two Portuguese brothers, Filipe and Eduardo, with the ambition of creating sneakers made from local and eco-friendly materials, produced in Portugal and designed to be sustainable over time. The idea came from their father—who always had beautiful shoes, some of which are 45 years old and still in use today. The brothers combine these principles with a fresh design that reflects personality and originality.
Nuno Ferreira, Senior Retail Consultant at Cushman & Wakefield and responsible for the deal, stated: “The arrival of Hirundo on Rua da Boavista represents an important milestone in the consolidation of national retail. Being involved in this opening, on one of Lisbon’s most iconic and vibrant streets—recognized by Time Out in 2024 as one of the coolest streets in the world—is a source of great pride. This expansion reflects not only the brand’s consistent growth but also highlights the relevance of Portuguese brands, built on principles of quality, authenticity, and sustainability, in prime locations.”
“This new store in Lisbon represents another natural step in Hirundo’s growth. We want to be increasingly closer to people and continue sharing what we make in Portugal,” commented the brand’s founders and brothers, Eduardo and Filipe Serzedelo.
Currently, Hirundo operates three additional stores in Portugal—one at Largo dos Lóios in Porto and two in Lisbon, namely in Praça do Príncipe Real and, more recently, in Alcântara (LX Factory).
